Birdfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus)


The bright, pure yellow of these ubiquitous roadside flowers is hard to equal. Close up, the perfect little pea flowers reveal contrasting red stripes.

  1. These pretty little wildflowers are very common in upstate New York. I have been asking local residents for years what they are called and no one could ever tell me. Finally, mystery solved!
